DAS Ikungi lauds PURA’s exemplary efforts

The District Administrative Secretary (DAS) of Ikungi District in the Singida Region, Mr. Rashid M. Rashid, commended the Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA) for its exemplary efforts in monitoring and regulating petroleum upstream operations across the country.

Rashid issued the commendation on August 3, 2025, during his visit to the PURA booth at the Nanenane International Agricultural Exhibition 2025, held nationally in Dodoma.

“I am sincerely impressed by how PURA oversees petroleum upstream projects, including the exploration of hydrocarbons in the Eyasi-Wembere Basin. Keep up the good work” said Rashid.

PURA, as the regulator, continues to oversee and regulate petroleum exploration, development, and production in Mainland Tanzania, including the exploration of hydrocarbons in the Eyasi-Wembere Basin, which is being undertaken by the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC).

The Eyasi-Wembere Basin is located in the northeastern part of Tanzania, covering an area of 10,634 square kilometers and spanning five regions, including Singida.
