Deputy Minister of Energy, Hon. Salome Makamba has urged the Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA) to ensure that Tanzanians are capacitated and actively involved in all stages of oil and natural gas exploration, development, and production projects in the country.

Hon. Salome Makamba made these remarks on December 8, 2025, in Dar es Salaam during her first meeting with the leadership of the Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA) following her appointment as Deputy Minister of Energy.

During the meeting, Hon. Makamba emphasized that Tanzanian participation in oil and natural gas projects is crucial and should be closely monitored to ensure that Tanzanians fully benefit from these resources.

“My plea to you: let us ensure strict compliance with the local content requirements under the Petroleum Act and related regulations in the petroleum subsector by ensuring that companies undertaking oil and gas projects in the country prioritize the local workforce and service providers" stressed Makamba.
