The Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba (MP), has called on Tanzanians to utilize the opportunities available in strategic projects to boost the national income.

Prime Minister Dr. Nchemba made these remarks in Dodoma during the climax of the 5th National Conference on Local Content Participation in Strategic Projects, which commenced on 2nd September.

He urged citizens to participate in ongoing strategic projects across the country, noting that doing so will enhance their economic and professional capacity.

He stated that the time has come for Tanzanians to explore how they can actively engage in various economic opportunities, including bidding for tenders announced under strategic projects.

Acting Executive Secretary of the National Economic Empowerment Council (NEEC), Gwakisa Bapala, stated that the council will address existing challenges and establish strategies to ensure citizens benefit from these projects.

The Vice Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Administration, Constitution, and Legal Affairs, Edwin Swalle, highlighted that the Parliament will continue enacting laws that created enabling environment for Tanzanians to participate in the national strategic projects.

During the conference, the Director General of the Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA), Eng. Charles Sangweni, emphasized that local content participation has grown significantly. For example in the petroleum sub-sector, employment has risen from 50% in 2015 to over 80% in 2025.

Eng. Sangweni added that PURA will continue to provide opportunities for Tanzanian youth to benefit from the country's oil and natural gas sector.

The two-day conference, from 2nd September to 3rd September brought together approximately 600 participants under the theme: “Tanzanian Participation is the Pillar of a Competitive and Inclusive Economy Towards VISION 2050.”
