Kapinga: keep promoting investment in open petroleum blocks
The Deputy Minister of Energy, Hon. Judith Kapinga called on the Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA) to continue promoting investment in petroleum exploration blocks to increase exploration activities that would result in more hydrocarbon discoveries in the country.
Hon. Kapinga expressed that statement on February 18, 2025, in Morogoro when officiating the PURA workers’ council meeting to discuss various issues including the Authority plan and budget for the financial year 2025/26.
“If we succeed in attracting investment in petroleum exploration, the country’s hydrocarbon discovery will increase. In addition, if we successfully execute the fifth licensing round, set to launch in March this year, we will be making a meaningful contribution to the efforts of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, in opening up the country’s economy and attracting more investment.” added Kapinga
Hon. Kapinga added that the Ministry of Energy recognizes the importance of the 5th licensing round and appreciates the great work done so far towards launching the event.
She congratulated PURA for creating an inclusive work culture by continuing to involve staff in planning, discussing, and approving the Authority’s plan and budget as one of the ways to abide by The Public Service (Negotiating Machinery) Act.
On his part, the Director General of PURA, Eng. Charles Sangweni, expressed his gratitude to the Government and the Ministry of Energy for their invaluable guidance and directives. These efforts have been instrumental in enabling the Authority to improve its delivery, efficiency, and innovation in carrying out its responsibilities.
