PURA shines at ADR Stakeholders' Recognition Award

The High Court of Tanzania Mediation Centre has recognized the Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA) with an award for its contribution in strengthening the use of mediation as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism.

PURA emerged as one of the stakeholders that met the criteria set by the Commission for the year 2025. In recognition of this achievement, PURA was presented with the award by the Chief Justice of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Mustapher Mohamed Siyani, during the 2025 Mediation Stakeholders Awards held on January 19, 2026, in Dar es Salaam.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Dr. Siyani stated that the Tanzanian Judiciary will continue to strengthen the use of mediation as an important mechanism for resolving disputes and will keep recognizing the valuable contributions of mediation stakeholders.

"It is very important to continue to remind each other of the importance of mediation in conflict resolution as this method brings unity, solidarity and promotes brotherhood. Doing so will enable more people in our society and those who come to invest in our country to see the opportunity that exists in mediation," said Hon. Dr. Siyani.

For his part, the representative of the Director General of PURA at the event, Mr. Shigela Malosha, stated that PURA has received the award with great humility and will continue to promote the use of mediation as an alternative mechanism for resolving disputes that may arise during the implementation of oil and natural gas exploration, development, and production activities in the country.
