On behalf of the Board of Directors, Management and staff of the Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA) I am honored to welcome you to our new website that has been renovated for the purpose of informing and educating the general public about all activities executed by this Authority.

In upholding the importance of the oil and gas sector in the country, PURA is committed to continue performing roles and responsibilities bestowed to it through the Petroleum Act 2015.

Those roles include, advising the Government on matters pertaining to petroleum upstream operations, performance monitoring of petroleum upstream activities and monitoring and regulating all activities relating to Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) projects for export.

PURA will continue to ensure a conducive environment for investors, in parallel to the ruling party manifesto and the Government’s motives towards industrialization as well as promoting local content in the upstream operations.

Local content is an aspect of paramount importance for our country’s economy and prosperity. This is due to the fact that employing locals and buying local goods and services create employment, technology transfer, skills and knowledge acquisition and value addition in the country.

I believe this website will serve as an informative and educative tool to the general public in all matters regarding the oil and gas sector in Tanzania.
