MPs Apprised of Licencing Round Prep Status
The Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA) used the Energy Week 2023 platform to explain to the Honourable Members of Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania about the existing plans and progress made in preparation for auctioning of open petroleum exploration blocks in the country.
According to Mr. Charles Nyangi, the Head of Local Content and Stakeholders Engagement at PURA, the Authority has already started preparations for the fifth licencing round aimed at promoting investment in petroleum exploration in the country, which will lead to more discoveries of natural gas or discovery of oil.
“"Currently, the ongoing work as part of the preparations for the anticipated licencing round includes a review of the 2013 Model Production Sharing Agreement and the demarcation of blocks. The auction will take place in the year 2024." added Mr. Nyangi.
The Energy Week 2023 was held at Bunge grounds in Dodoma from May 29, 2023 to June 01, 2023. The exhibition aimed at updating Members of Parliament on status of various projects implemented by the Ministry of Energy and its institutions.
