PURA conducts monitoring visit to Eyasi-Wembere
In fulfilling its legal obligations, the Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA) has conducted a monitoring visit to the Eyasi - Wembere Block where the acquisition of infill and additional 2D seismic data is ongoing.
Initially, the 2D seismic data in that Block was collected in 2023. The acquisition of additional data in the Eyasi-Wembere Block is a continuation of the oil exploration program in that Block.
The acquisition of such data will make it possible to obtain adequate information regarding the geology of that Block. This information will facilitate, among other things, the identification of areas for drilling oil exploration wells.
The data acquisition assignment is being implemented by the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) through the African Geophysical Services Limited (AGS). By the time of the visit, the implementation of the work had reached 20 percent.
The Eyasi Wembere block is located in the northeastern part of Tanzania in the East African Rift System, Eastern Arm. The Block covers an area of 10,634.9 square kilometers across five regions namely, Singida, Tabora, Shinyanga, Simiyu, and Arusha.
