The Acting Director General for Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA) Engineer Charles Sangweni recently led the Internal Audit Committee from the Ministry of Energy to visit natural gas production and processing facilities in Mtwara.

Eng. Sangweni expressed that the visit aimed at building capacity to the members of the committee and its secretariat with regard to the petroleum upstream operations particulary natural gas production and processing.

The delegate visited Mnazi Bay Gas Producing Field which is under the operatorship of Maurel & Prom (M&P). Areas visited included natural gas processing facilities, gas producing wells and Gas Receiving Facility (GRF).

Furthermore the delegate toured through the Madimba Processing Plant owned by the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) and later visited the Somangafungu Gas Junction.

The Somangafungu facility which is also under TPDC receives natural gas from Mtwara and Songosongo, process it further before transporting it to the Kinyerezi Gas Receiving Station in Dar es Salaam.
