The Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA) held an engagement meeting with the Petroleum Authority of South Sudan to discuss areas of cooperation in matters related to exploration, development and production of oil and natural gas.

The meeting was held in Juba on March 24, 2023 at the offices of the Ministry of Petroleum of South Sudan under the chairmanship of the undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum of South Sudan Hon. Mayen Wol Jong.

Among the attendants at the meeting were a representative of the Director General of PURA, Mr. Rogasian Ngumbi and the Director General of the Petroleum Authority of South Sudan, Dr. William Deng.

Areas in which the two parties deliberated to establish cooperation include auctioning of oil exploration blocks, petroleum data management, audit of production sharing agreements, preparation of legal and regulatory frameworks governing the oil and gas sector, and participation of local nationals in the oil and natural gas operations.
